energetic log jam

Our energy is like water. Or a battery. Some days you wake up and you’re good. You’re pumped. You’re ready. You’re in the flow. Other days you’re drained. Tired. The thought of doing something is too much. You’re feeling stuck or stagnant.

In my Nia practice I’ve learned you’re either increasing, circulating or expending your energy. But I’ll tell you, there are times your energy is as stagnant as an old mosquito pond. You’ve been doing the same thing for a while. You’re tired and just using the bare minimum of energy. Or it may be that your energy is blocked and you can’t access it.

Blocked energy is one of the most common reasons people don’t get started doing what they want. The block may be fear. It may be unclarity. confusion. exhaustion. The key is to get that energy stirred up and moving again.

For years I wanted to catch up with our taxes. I was about 4 years behind and hadn’t filed since 2010. (Don’t judge me, k?) The thought of doing those taxes was exhausting. And so I put it off year after year.

Last year in my group program we spoke about anchors or things that weigh us down. And I knew my taxes were weighing me down, my energy was blocked. How I knew: I wanted to stick my head in the sand or take a nap whenever I’d think about them.

Those taxes were draining my energy battery. It was running in the background. Taking up space. Blocking my flow. So I committed in front of the group I’d finish them. Gotta practice what I preach, right?

I started with January 2011. The first month. And the funny this is, once I got going, things started to flow. Day by day it got easier. Baby steps. Bit by bit. It was like a log jamming a stream. Once I moved one log, things started flowing again. My energy let up again.

If your energy is stuck, it’s time to move that log. Just choose one.

Share below. What is the 1 small thing you can do to get your energy stream flowing again?
